Summer is here and school is out! Despite COVID-19, students can find creative and educational enrichment in the art and science camps listed below. Sign up with a Mobile Arts Council member organization today!


Alabama Contemporary Art Center



All virtual summer camps include 2 hours of instruction via Zoom at 10 a.m. *A parent or guardian must be available during all instructional sessions and supervision may be required. Some activities, such as preparing a workspace and materials or baking oven-bake clay, may require adult participation. Families must have appropriate technology (phone, computer, tablet, etc.).

July 6th – 10th: Virtual Stop Motion Animation -Ages 10-14 – Campers will learn the basics of stop motion animation and the storyboard creation process before creating their own animated short films.


July 13th – 17th
Virtual Art Intersections -Ages 10-14 – In this new camp, participants will delve into a wide range of creative media to interpret and explore subjects such as science, literature, and math.

July 20th – 24th: Virtual Creative Sculpture -Ages 7 – 9 – Campers will use hands-on sculpture techniques to create mini animals, coil-built pots and vessels, and more.

July 27th – 31st: Virtual Art in Action –Ages 13 – 17 – This camp invites young movers and shakers to explore the role of the arts in advocacy.


Sunnyside Theater & Azalea City Center for the Arts



June 22nd – 26th: Sunny Side Theater Glee Camp – 9 am – 3 pm – Campers will get into groups to work on songs to perform at the end of the week concert!

June 29th – 10th: “Session 3” – 9 am – 1 pm – Our original Drama Camp is still planning on going on as planned at Spring Hill College! We will be presenting “The Walking Dwarves”!


July 13th – 17th: Musical Theatre Intensive – 9 am – 4 pm – Our musical this summer will be Camp Rock!!! Our one-week intensive will produce a full-blown musical with the talents of Chris, Lauren, Eric, Sara Margaret, and special guest Sue Gautier from Hammond, Louisiana! The location will be at Spring Hill College!


July 20th – 31st: “Session 4” – 9 am – 1 pm – Our original Drama Camp is still planning on going on as planned at Spring Hill College! We will be presenting “The Untold Story of Rose Red”!


The following camps are located at the Azalea City Center for the Arts.


Drama Camp Jr. is for our youngest stars! Our one-week themed camps end with a performance each Friday. (Maximum campers for these camps will be 9 campers + a counselor)

All camps are located at the Azalea City Center for the Arts. 


Camps are Monday-Friday and feature a concert on Fridays at 3:00!

Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center


Ages 4-5


June 22th – 26th: Little Detectives – The world around us if full of mysteries to be solved. Campers will learn how something as small as a fingerprint can be a big clue and delve deeper into the fascinating world of deductive reasoning.



June 29th – July 3rd: It’s a Zoo in Here! – Explore the wonderful world of the animal kingdom as we learn about animals that are sometimes found in zoos. Campers will use hands-on and creative projects to go on safari to remember.

July 13th – 17th: Music Camp – Music is one of the art forms that brings the world together, but it also has a lot of science and math that we can study. Campers will hear many kinds of music and learn to create some of their own with actual musical instruments.


July 20th – 24th: Astro-Tots – Space is the final frontier with so much left unexplored by humans. Campers will go on a journey to the furthest reaches of the solar system, learning about the universe around us with fun hands-on projects.


July 27th – 31st: Storybook Science – Our favorite children’s storybooks have a lot of science between their pages. Campers will participate in exciting experiments and projects that are inspired by wonderful classics like Cat in the Hat, Rainbow Fish, and many more.


August 3rd – 7th: Artistic Science – The greatest artworks in the world required a surprising amount of science to make. Campers will have the opportunity to make their own masterpieces that fuse the world of science and art through hands-on experiments and creativity.


6-8 years

June 22nd – 26th: Chemistry Chameleons – Colorful concoctions, exploding lemons, and even a stretch slime await campers in the chemistry chameleons camp! See how chemistry can be

Crazy and colorful in this classic camp!


June 29th – 3rd: Ocean Explorers – Dive deep into marine biology with an exploration into oceans and rivers and the animals that call them home. Campers will learn about various vertebrates and invertebrates under the sea, as well as the differences between saltwater and freshwater environments and steps we can take to keep them both healthy.


July 13th – 17th: I spy! – We have a mystery to solve, and the Exploreum is counting on our smallest detectives for assistance cracking the case! This week campers will delve into the world of forensics with lessons on fingerprints, DNA, hair and fiber analysis, and even a little bit of forensic anthropology!


July 20th – 24th: The World Beneath Our Feet – Soil – Students will experience the world of detritivores (aka decomposers). Learn about how small organisms like pill bugs, worms, and fungi create the soil we need to grow the food we eat. It’s a jungle down there!


July 27th – 31st: The Science of Us – How Do Our Bodies Work? This week our campers are learning all about the human body and how it works, with lessons on bones and organs and their jobs, as well as what we can do to keep our bodies healthy and working properly.


August 3rd – 7th: Junior Astronauts – Get ready to lift-off into a week of space camp that’s out of this world! 


Ages 9-11


June 22nd – 26th: Design It, Slice It, 3d Print It – Campers will learn the many ins-and-outs of 3-D printing. Starting out 9-11 YEARS with the basics, students will be familiarized with the 3-D printing software, while working up to a comfortable level of slicing and printing their very own designs.


June 29th – July 3rd: Chemistry Crusaders – Awesome experiments, making plastics and investigating oobleck await campers during our Chemistry Crusaders.


July 13th – 17th: Scifi Science – Can you master the Jedi Mind Trick? How do you feel about Traveling with a certain Doctor? Come learn about the science behind some of Science Fiction’s best heroes, villains, and all the characters in between!


July 20th – 24th: Wizardry Camp – Learn to believe in Magic in this one of a kind Wizardry Camp! Dive deep into Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures, and Potions in this fun and educational camp!


July 27th – 31st: Thermo Thievery – Campers will learn the fundamental laws of thermodynamics to understand how heat, or the lack thereof, affects the world around us.


August 3rd – 7th: Enter the Space Race! This week of camp will focus on some of the most interesting areas of our universe. From nebulas to possible extraterrestrial life, campers will explore all the outer reaches of space!


Ages 12-13


June 29th – July 3rd: Airbus Flight Academy – Ladies and gentlemen please remain seated because you are coming in for a landing right into the Exploreum Aeronautical Summer Camp! The Exploreum partners with Airbus to build an aeronautical experience for students from the ground up.


July 27th – 31st: Board Game Science (Dungeons & Wyverns) – Board games are an excellent means of teaching Strategizing, Social Interaction, and Problem Solving, which are some of the many skills campers will increase in this camp! 


Round But Square Studios



June 22nd – 24th: Doll House Camp – Join us for this amazing doll house camp inspired by HatchStudio. Each child creates their very own two-story wooden dollhouse. We start by designing / painting the exterior, move indoors for interior design, ( SHHHH! we may even have a surprise local interior designer come talk to us ) wallpaper, furniture, rugs, chandeliers, miniature artwork for the walls, accessories and many more miniatures of all types.

June 22nd – 24th: Pop! Bam! Boom! Mini Makers and Pop Art (Ages 4-6)Bam! Boom! Mini Makers and Pop Art (Ages 4-6) – Hip hip hooray boys and girls!! We are back in action and ready to create. We have all kinds of projects up our sleeves- painting, collage, mix media, and sculpture inspired by POP ARTISTS’ Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, Kandinsky, and Wayne Thiebaud.


June 29th: Mini-Maker’s Patriotic Picnic (Ages 3 – 6) – In this one day camp, artists will sculpt a Mini American Picnic using model magic, an air dry clay. Kiddos will build their own menu of favorite American classics or family tradition and then sculpt them. Next , they will create a picnic blanket and basket to hold all their picnic savory bites. Let’s create and show how proud we are to be an Americans living in this great country!


June 30th: Fun with Felt with Leslie Holberg – Leslie Holberg will be our visiting art teacher for a SUPER COOL one day camp. We are so excited that she is bringing new material to the studio…FELT. Grab a friend and join us!



July 1st: The All-American 4th of July Picnic (Ages 7 – 12)– This one day camp is all about celebrating America and it’s Independence. Gather your friends and come sculpt, paint, and draw all your favorite picnic foods, design a picnic blanket, and decorate a picnic basket. And then you will be set for your 4th of July celebration!


Coastal Makers



June 22nd: All Creatures Great and Small – This camp is perfect for our animal and insect-loving kiddos that would do anything for our creatures. We will explore many art mediums creating amazing works of art, that they will proudly display! We sculpt, we paint, we draw, we CREATE!

June 29th & 30th: Robertsdale Summer Art Camp


July 1st & 2nd: Robertsdale Summer Art Camp -This camp is perfect for any budding artist! Our fun, playful projects will leave your kiddo begging to come back to play games and make great art! Geared for children who have completed kinder to age 8 in the morning session and 9 and up in the afternoon. We will explore many art mediums creating amazing works of art, that they will proudly display! We sculpt, we paint, we draw, we CREATE!


July 6th – 10th: Out of This World – This camp is perfect for your extraordinary kiddo that loves space and loves to create! We will explore many art mediums creating amazing works of art, that they will proudly display! We sculpt, we paint, we draw, we CREATE!

June 15th – July 31st: Summer Art Bash 2020 Sessions Campers can attend the morning art camp or attend the extended day which includes lunch, outdoor activities, open studio, and MORE ART! Be sure to select whether you would like Half Day or Full Day when registering for the individual sessions


July 27th – 31st: Marcus Johnson Summer Jazz Camp – Central Presbyterian Church – Weekdays 9:30 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. – Registration Deadline: July 10, 2020
