Mobile Arts Council Introduces a Partnership with Spring Hill College

The Mobile Arts Council and Spring Hill College announce a new partnership designed to expand access to arts programming for students and the greater Mobile community.

Built on a shared commitment to service, the collaboration will bring a series of artist residencies, hands-on workshops, and exhibitions hosted on the Spring Hill College campus, connecting students with professional artists and creative programming while extending Mobile’s vibrant arts community beyond the downtown area.

“This partnership reflects a common thread between our organizations: service,” said Kat Kirk Stoves of Mobile Arts Council. “By working hand in hand with Spring Hill College, we are creating meaningful opportunities for students to connect with working artists while also extending the reach of Mobile’s robust arts community.”

The partnership will launch with a hands-on anthotype photography workshop led by local artist and cultural contributor Wayne McNeil on Saturday, March 14, at the Murphy Fine Arts building on the Spring Hill College campus. The workshop introduces participants to an early photographic process that uses plant-based materials to create images.

“Partnerships like this allow us to deepen the role of the arts in education while strengthening connections between the college and the Mobile community,” said Spring Hill College President Dr. Mary Van Brunt. “This event marks the beginning of what we hope will be a long and impactful collaboration centered on creativity, education, and community connection.”

By combining Spring Hill College’s longstanding tradition of service with Mobile Arts Council’s mission to support and promote the arts, the partnership aims to foster a dynamic, creative environment where students, artists, and community members can learn from and inspire one another.
