Mobile Arts Council (MAC) is pleased to announce Angela Browning Montgomery as its new Executive Director. With a strong background in non-profit management and a passion for community engagement, Montgomery brings a wealth of experience to this important role.

As Executive Director, Montgomery will oversee the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of MAC, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the cultural life of the Mobile community through support, coordination, and promotion of the arts. With her leadership, MAC aims to continue its mission of providing resources and opportunities for artists, fostering creativity, and enhancing the arts scene in Mobile.

Angela has been with the Mobile Arts Council since 2017 displaying a proven track record of success in the arts sector. She holds a BS in Biology from Sweet Briar College and has fifteen years’ experience of non-profit work under her belt. Her commitment to the arts and her vision for community involvement make her an excellent fit for this position.

“I am honored and excited to be selected as the Mobile Arts Council’s next Executive Director,” said Angela. “The arts have the power to inspire, educate, and unite us, and I look forward to continue working with the talented team at MAC to further our mission and make a positive impact on the Mobile community.”

In her role, Montgomery will collaborate with local artists, community leaders, and stakeholders to promote arts initiatives, develop partnerships, and expand MAC’s reach. Her appointment comes at a pivotal time as MAC continues to grow its programs and services to support a vibrant arts ecosystem.

Kim Sweet, President of MAC’s Board of Directors shared, “We are thrilled to promote Angela as our Executive Director as she brings with her an innate understanding of our organization’s mission. Her appointment ensures that MAC’s impact will continue to grow, affording meaningful opportunities for local artists, successful collaborations with local and statewide arts agencies, and education outreach that inspires future generations to continue the expressive landscaping of our cultural heritage.”

Angela officially assumes her role as Executive Director on April 29, 2024.
