January Artist Member of the Month

Congratulations to our January Artist Member of the Month Laura Ledbetter !

Laura, a native of Mobile and proud mother of two, Jameson and Sarah Blake, has been immersed in the world of art and welding from a young age. She learned to weld in her father Frank Ledbetter’s shop when she was just twelve years old.

We are especially proud to announce that Laura has been selected to craft the Artys Award for our 20th Annual Ceremony!

Over the years, she has worked closely with her father, learning to craft her own sculptures. One of her most notable creations, inspired by a piece of practice aluminum that resembled a sail, is her “shipwreck” concept. This unique inspiration led to the creation of a series of eight one-of-a-kind ships, which she sells through her father’s art gallery.

In addition to her ships, Laura creates stunning stainless steel serpent wall pieces and collaborates with her father to design vibrant Christmas trees with matching ornaments each year. She has exhibited her work at the Mobile Arts Council gallery, local art shows, and currently has pieces available for sale at The Frenchmen in downtown Mobile.

Looking ahead, Laura is excited to expand her portfolio in 2025, with plans to produce many more sculptures. We are proud to celebrate her talent and accomplishments this month!
