August Artist Member of the Month

Congratulations to our Artist Member of the Month Lynn Henderson Oldshue !

She is both locally and nationally recognized for her remarkable storytelling skills, playing an essential role in our community by sharing stories that might otherwise go unheard. While she’s most comfortable listening and writing to bring others’ voices to the page—and prefers not to be the subject herself—here’s a little glimpse into her world in her own words.

“I believe every story matters. I listen, share, and help people find their voice because stories break down walls and help us find common ground. I grew up in Yazoo City, Mississippi, and live on a small farm outside Fairhope, Alabama with my husband, John. Through my blog, Our Southern Souls (now two books), I’ve spent nearly a decade capturing stories from across the South and beyond.

I write for Lagniappe, Mobile Bay Magazine, and report for Alabama Public Radio, and my work has earned state and national recognition. As a field producer for the new Alabama Weather Network, I focus on highlighting the people doing good across the state and showing our best sides.

Of course I am very, very honored and excited about Kat’s exhibit based on Souls. Hard to believe I’ve been doing Souls for almost ten years (10 in December). I may love it even more now.”
