Artist Statement:
In my current body of work, paintings become a theatrical space for narratives that examine notions of gender, sentimentality, desire, nostalgia, and sincerity. With tableau-style settings and appropriated death and resurrection imagery, I stage scenes overwrought with artifice to question spirituality, beauty, and the human condition. By developing an enigmatic iconography, I aim to generate a vision that is possibly recognizable, as in a romantic fever dream.
